Tutor Biographies
Caroline Fraser
Caroline grew up in Scotland in a rich musical environment. Studying at Edinburgh University and at the RAM, she gained her BMus, ARCM and LRAM. Later, in California, she gained an MMus with Kodaly emphasis. Since 1981 she has pioneered the Suzuki approach in Latin America. Caroline is a teacher trainer for the ESA, SAA and ARSO. She gives teacher training courses in Latin America, the USA, Canada, Europe, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Australia.
Her passions include quality teacher training, seeking excellence in a positive environment and building a solid foundation through cumulative learning. Caroline currently lives in Lima, Peru.

Margaret Parkin
Margaret started Suzuki violin at the age of four, followed by degrees in violin and conducting in her native Canada. She trained as a Suzuki teacher with the BSI, and also holds the ESA Diploma of Suzuki Pedagogy.
Margaret is co-director of the Oxford Suzuki String Group and maintains a full studio of violin and viola students aged three to 18. She has taught at workshops in Canada, Denmark and the UK. She says her best and most challenging role is as a Suzuki parent and teacher to her outgoing and inquisitive seven year old son.

In 2010 she published a book, Successful Practising: A handbook for pupils, parents and music teachers (and is currently writing a book on teaching). She has recorded the complete Suzuki piano repertoire. She has also videoed short teaching tutorials on each piece in books 1 to 4 of the repertoire. The Cambridge Suzuki Group
The Cambridge Suzuki Group is formed of pupils and families of a group of five Suzuki teachers in Cambridgeshire: Polly Waterfield and Lilan Hall (violin and viola), Pippa Macmillan (cello and double bass), Liz Hargest (flute) and Jenny Macmillan (piano). Pupils give joint book recitals; pianists accompany other instruments; they gave a group concert at Robinson College last November.
